FTS-HVAC Apprenticeship

The Florida Training Service Apprentices in this program are registered apprentices with the Florida Department of Workforce Education – Apprenticeship Section.   They will also be a registered students of Florida Training Services public education partner Atlantic Technical College.

Program Description

The instructional curriculum has been tailored to provide the individual with not only a broader education in their craft, but the ability to advance on the job in their trade.  Apprentices who successfully complete the program will receive certifications from:

  • State of Florida – Apprenticeship Completion
  • Certificate from Atlantic Technical College
  • OSHA Safety Certification

Apprentice Requirements:

*Apprentices are required to log a minimum of 2000 hours-per-year of
on-the-job (OJT) training. All progress is documented with the sponsoring employer.  Apprentices are also required to attend a minimum of 144 hours-per-year of related classroom training. The entire program is 4 years. 

Please ensure you meet the following Apprenticeship requirements before continuing with this application:

  • Applicants must be working full-time in the field of study with a sponsoring employment company, and/or have prior experience in their trade and able to be placed with a sponsoring employer.
    • For hiring purposes, if the applicant has no previous construction trades training or current/past construction employment we highly recommend applying to the Pre-Apprenticeship program first.   • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older
  • Applicants will be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the occupation, with or without a reasonable accommodation, and without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of the individual or others.
  • Applicants must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in order to comprehend instructions on the job and in related training classes, and to ensure personal and co-worker safety on the job.
  • Must be able to attend evening classes two nights per week.
