Before You Apply

Apprenticeship Requirements Built Around Workforce Participation

Electrical Apprenticeship pathways are intended for individuals ready to work within the electrical industry while completing structured workforce training requirements.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must work within the electrical trade field
  • Must have a sponsoring employer or qualifying placement opportunity
  • Must be physically capable of performing electrical-related work
  • Must be able to attend evening classes
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English for workplace and safety purposes
  • Must complete related classroom instruction and documented on-the-job training

Additional Guidance:

Individuals with little or no electrical experience may benefit from beginning with the Pre-Apprenticeship pathway before entering Registered Apprenticeship.

Structured Workforce Experience

Training Built Around Real Electrical Environments

Electrical Apprenticeship includes both classroom instruction and practical workforce experience completed through sponsoring employers and documented on-the-job training.
Program standards generally include:
  • minimum 2,000 hours per year of on-the-job training
  • minimum 144 hours per year of classroom instruction
  • workforce documentation and progress tracking
  • technical and safety-focused education
